Hi, Im Claire, I set up Sophia Fox Upholstery which is named after my grandmother who was a tailoress.

 

I have enjoyed designing and creating bespoke furniture as a small business since May 2015. However I have enjoyed re-styling furniture for over 30 years.  I enjoy sourcing pieces from online, vintage stores and auctions.  I then choose a fabric that will complement the piece.  I like to choose bold, quirky designs so that the piece can stand alone as an interesting unique piece of furniture in your home.  I look to sell my pieces online, at vintage fairs and antique shops.  I am also happy to sell to the trade.

 

There is nothing more satisfying to me than taking an old tired piece of furniture and re-inventing it into a smart, beautiful piece of furniture.  I like to use modern upholstery techniques that provide a clean sharp finish to the furniture.  

 

As well as designing my own pieces I am available to re-upholster chairs, footstools and piano stools for customers.  I am happy to discuss fabric ideas with you or cover the piece in whatever fabric you choose. I specialise in working on smaller pieces as I only have a small workshop.

I also provide lessons in Modern Upholstery.  It is a cost effective, straight forward way of upholstering furniture that anyone can learn and enjoy.  Bringing with it a therapeutic value which gets you hooked!
